Until now. Because now, the Green House program has come to Buckner Westminster Place

Created by noted geriatrician and author William Thomas, The Green House® model de-institutionalizes long term care by creating small group homes for eight to 10 people. Private bedrooms and bathrooms surround an open kitchen and a hearth room area – and nurturing care is provided by peer assistants, called “Shabazim.”

Residents have full access to the home – and play a role in establishing menus, activities and health routines. Meanwhile, nurses make regular visits to assist with medical needs – but residents have the flexibility and freedom – and the satisfaction – of taking charge of their own environment and schedule.

The addition of Green House® residences makes Buckner Westminster Place the only community in Longview to offer a truly complete continuum of care – and the first in Texas to provide this revolutionary new concept for care.
